Mort de la commune
04:16
|
|||
When you sleep, there's hope in your eyes
Curled down deep, away from the light
Under lids, so that no one sees it
Hidden and biding its time
Sleeping through the long winter days till the sun shines
When you walk, you walk out of time
A sideways creep and history goes by
Let it go, it'll never find us
With me, we'll sit by the fire
Laughing through the long winter days till our words come
Wake me again for the next time we rise
Some day we'll tear Paris down
Wake me again when we question everything
Next time we'll make Paris sing ...
When you sing, your voice sounds like mine
A song that leaps from your heart to mine
What you feel is the way I'm feeling
Wordless and curled down inside
Talking through the long winter days till our time comes
Wake me again for the next time we rise
Some day we'll tear Paris down
Wake me again when we question everything
Next time we'll make Paris sing ...

Monday Morning
04:20
|
|||
It's not a brushoff, it's just time that you were going
It's getting bright outside, it's time that you were going
We've said it all before, there's nothing left worth knowing
I'll keep your stuff until you get to where you're going
When it comes down, it all comes down to ...
You, and you only hear the things that I'm not saying
You're making arguments and me, well I'm just praying
You got some good cards there, but not the ones you're playing
I'll keep your stuff until you get to where you're staying
When it comes down, it all comes down to
You've got decisions that you really should be making
Monday morning, made it through the night
A whole week waiting, sitting just outside
So I head out the front door to see the world go by
Monday morning, made it through the night
I got a bleeding heart, but it ain't never breaking
Don't brush me off this time, you know just what I'm saying
You don't stop giving but I guess I just stopped taking
I'll keep your stuff until you get to where you're staying
When it comes down, it all comes down to
Just hang around, you'll see that it's true
When it comes down, it all comes down to
You and you'll never have a better chance, so take it
Monday morning, made it through the night
A whole week waiting, sitting just outside
So I head out the front door to see the world go by
Monday morning, made it through the night
Such a big world passing by ...
Monday morning, made it through the night

Foggy River
04:18
|
|||
Come on, Pearly, let's go down
(On the foggy river)
We got a boat and we're leaving this town
My dreams are full of diamonds
My pockets are full of holes
I'm going into hiding just to be more like my soul
You want to get to it, you can't get to it
Come on, Pearly, let's go down
The air is clean and the world is still round
Don't look to me to tell you
What it is we're sailing towards
All I know's it's something
We've never seen before
You want to get to it, you can't get to it
I've got a secret that I'm keeping from myself
And if you find it out, will you promise not to tell?
One thing I've lost is more than every little thing I've found
We'll sleep in the boat tonight and let the current drag us down
Come on Pearly, let's go down
We've got a boat and we're leaving this town ...

In years gone by
It was warm all the time
There was nothing to do but to be
There's a story that I heard
I recall every word
While I was sitting on my granddad's knee
"Go on, run around
Enjoy what you've found
And may all of your dreams come true
But I want you to know
When the world gets cold
In the end we're only passing through"
So I hopped on down
And I wandered around
And never a coat did I wear
As the summer wore on
I knew Grandpa was wrong
I knew he would always be there
Then came the fall, I wasn't quite so small
And everyone said I'd grown
But there was still room for me on my granddad's knee
And I knew I would always be home
I lived out of doors
I roamed and explored
And for weeks at a time I was gone
There was so much to see
It was waiting for me
And everywhere I went I was home
I returned one day
After so long away
To sit on Grandpa's knee once again
But he'd grown so small
I couldn't fit at all
And I knew that he was nearing his end
Fell the rain, fell the leaves
Fell my tears as I grieved
As I sat beside my Grandpa's bed
I dreamed a great dream,
God fell to his knees
And when I woke, I knew that Grandpa was dead
Since Grandpa died it's been cold all the time
And all that he said came true
I'm lost and alone and this world's not my home
And I know I'm only passing through

Dirty, dirty water
04:02
|
|||
Who's to say it wasn't meant to be this way
You can never tell for sure, after all
Our Sister, always curious to look over the wall
She looked too long into the void
And one day it looked back, and she fell
Down, down, down - dirty dirty water
no one caught her
dirty dirty water
she's coming back up again!
She lived in a castle by the sea
Where time and tide might wash away in vain
White white walls, dark dark waves
From up above the storm and clouds,
She came crashing down, and she fell
chorus
Can something turn to nothing
When nothing is nothing at all?
All that dirty water, all that time below
It's gonna vanish when she makes it home
